Red Barn Pottery is pleased to offer private pottery lessons, beginning in January 2018. We offer private classes rather than large classes with ten or fifteen students, because one-on-one attention allows greater teacher-student personal interaction and greater instructor focus on the development of each student’s pottery skills and artistic sensibilities. Private lessons also allow students to personally choose the area or areas on which they wish their lessons to focus, such as wheel throwing, hand-building, or sculpture.
Beginning tool kits are available for sale at Red Barn Pottery, or you may purchase them over the internet (e.g., Amazon.com) or at a brick and mortar store (e.g., Runyan’s Pottery in Flint). A 2 foot x 2 foot shelf space is provided to students during their lessons for storage work, tools, etc.
To arrange for private lessons, call Ruth Zimmerman at (517) 881-9457. She will put you in touch with an instructor who will arrange lesson times (in four lesson modules) and discuss the area or areas in which you want to concentrate. Lesson payments are to be made to Red Barn Pottery LLC, 4098 Zimmer Rd., Williamston, MI, 48895. Payments are due in advance for each four-lesson module. Checks or cash in an envelope can be left in Ruth Zimmerman’s mailbox at Red Barn before the start of the next lesson module. Checks must indicate the lesson dates for which they apply, and envelopes containing cash must also identify name(s) and the lesson dates.
If for any reason, you decide not to continue with lessons before your last paid lesson module is completed, any remaining unused portion of your payment will be refunded in full.
